Architectural and Urban Accessibility Standard
Purpose
The Standard sets out the principles for designing new and renovated buildings, as well as the spaces around them, with a view to comprehensively adapting spaces to the diverse needs of users. Every space, especially educational spaces, should enable maximally independent and informed use, and should be free of architectural and urban barriers for people with special needs.
Scope
The document provides designers and contractors with tools for creating accessible spaces and facilities. It refers to the regulations and standards in force in Poland and worldwide, and indicates solutions that make it possible to meet the requirements of the Act on Ensuring Accessibility to Persons with Special Needs, as well as other architectural solutions that benefit people with disabilities and are consistent with the concept of universal design.
