Visual Information Design Standard

Purpose of the standard

The Visual Information Design Standard of Wrocław University of Science and Technology sets out the rules for creating information signage installed in university buildings. The purpose of the standard is to introduce a consistent visual identity for buildings that is legible to different groups of users, including those with specific needs, in accordance with the Act of 19 July 2019 on Ensuring Accessibility to Persons with Special Needs.

Scope of application

In the case of building renovations and changes to visual information in facilities of Wrocław University of Science and Technology, the relevant unit is obliged to create signage in accordance with the guidelines set out in this document. The visual information system in a building should be agreed with the Accessibility Department of Wrocław University of Science and Technology.

Annex 1 to the Standard

List of graphic signs (pictograms and arrows) and room names

The annex contains a complete set of pictograms and directional arrows developed on the basis of ISO 7001:2007, which should be used on information signage in university buildings. It also includes standardised room names in Polish and English, applicable across all facilities of Wrocław University of Science and Technology.

Generating information signage

Request door signage generation

The Accessibility Department generates door signage automatically, using a dedicated application compatible with the WUST Digital Guide. To request signage for a building or faculty, simply download the spreadsheet below, fill it in with the room data and send it back to us – we will take care of the rest.

    Download the spreadsheet

    Download the .xlsx file containing the form for entering data about the building, floors and rooms.

  2. 02

    Fill in the data

    For each room, provide the building number, floor, room number and its function, using the drop-down lists available in the spreadsheet (names consistent with Annex 1). The faculty name, department name and presence of an NFC tag are optional, where applicable.

  3. 03

    Send back the completed file

    Send the completed spreadsheet to dostepnosc+arch@pwr.edu.pl(opens in a new tab).

  4. 04

    Receive the finished signage

    Based on the data provided, we will generate door signage compliant with the Visual Information Design Standard and pass it on to you for printing and installation.
