Dean's Leave

What is a dean's leave?

A dean's leave is one type of leave available to all students during their studies. The rules are defined by the Wrocław University of Science and Technology Study Regulations. A student can apply for a leave along with the possibility of verifying the learning outcomes included in the study program. Applications for dean’s leave should be submitted to the respective Faculty.

Rules for Using Dean's Leave

Important Dates

A student's application for dean's leave for a given stage of studies must be submitted in accordance with the schedule specified by the dean, no later than the third working day of the next stage of studies, subject to the Wrocław University of Science and Technology Study Regulations. In individual, justified cases, the dean may consider an application for dean's leave submitted after the deadline specified in the Study Regulations, but no later than the end of the second week of classes in a given semester (teaching cycle).

How long can I use the support?

Dean's leave is granted for a period of one academic semester.

How often can I use the support?

Dean's leave may be granted to a student for a total period not exceeding two stages of study during the entire course of study.

A student cannot use dean's leave if

  • they did not pass or conditionally pass the first stage of studies,
  • they did not pass the subjects in at least the third attempt and did not obtain consent, as described in the Study Regulations, to retake the subject,
  • they did not pass the subject taken for the second time after resuming studies.
